Green Building Tools

City of Seattle “Implement”
Implement, the City of Seattle's sustainable building tool, is a practical how-to-tool that assists in implementing the sustainable building policy.

Clean Power Research “Estimator”

Clean Power Research provides objective economic analysis about investments in clean energy technologies to consumers, companies, utilities, organizations, and governments. The technologies include photovoltaics, wind, solar thermal, energy efficiency, and fuel cells.

The Estimator uses the data provided to gather information on your utility rates, available sunlight at your site, and all available incentives and tax credits to generate a customized estimate of the costs and savings of installing a PV system using an eligible installer under NYSERDA’s PV incentive program.

Comparative Matrix of Forest Certification Schemes

The On-Line Comparative Matrix of Forest Certification Schemes aims to provide reliable advice to customers and companies involved in the paper and wood products trade on the credibility of individual forest certification schemes and the labels issued under these schemes. The website provides a set of tools for anyone that wishes to compare these schemes. The website is not affiliated to any forest certification scheme and has been developed by an independent consultant commissioned by CEPI.

Database of State Incentives for Renewable Energy
The Database of State Incentives for Renewable Energy (DSIRE) is a comprehensive source of information on state, local, utility, and selected federal incentives that promote renewable energy.  This database lists the Washington Incentives for Renewable Energy.

Energy Star Target Finder
It is an internet-based tool that helps you manage energy during the design of a new building. With Target Finder you can set an aggressive energy performance target for a building design and compare your estimated energy consumption to the established target. Target Finder provides an energy performance rating for whole-building energy use.
•    Determine an annual energy target for your building design
•    Compare energy use from simulations with your target
•    Monitor your design's energy performance as building plans progress
•    Evaluate the cost effectiveness of energy efficiency measures
•    Minimize potential greenhouse gas emissions associated with your building              design

Forest Certification Resource Center
The Forest Certification Resource Center search tool enables users access to a database of more than *800 certified forests throughout the world, and more than 4,500 certified locations supplying wood and paper products. Buyers can make more informed purchasing decisions by searching for companies based on location, certification system, company type or other specific product information.
*Please note this tool includes Forest Stewardship Council certified forests and products as well as other certifications.

Greater Vancouver Regional District “BuildSmart”
BuildSmart is a program developed and administered by the Greater Vancouver Regional District to encourage the use of green building strategies and technologies. Greater Vancouver's BuildSmart website is your source for design and construction information about sustainable buildings.

GREENGUARD Environmental Institute™ “Product Guide”
The GREENGUARD Environmental Institute™ (GEI) is an industry-independent, non-profit organization that oversees the GREENGUARD Certification Program for low-emitting products, including the establishment of acceptable standards for interior products and testing protocols.

The GREENGUARD Product Guide, an indoor air quality (IAQ) resource, is provided at no charge and is the world's only guide for selecting low emitting products and materials. The guide features products, which are regularly tested to ensure that their chemical and particle emissions meet acceptable IAQ pollutant guidelines and standards.

LCA (Life Cycle Analysis) in Sustainable Architecture
LISA (LCA in Sustainable Architecture) is a streamlined LCA decision support tool for construction. It was developed in response to requests by architects and industry professionals for a simplified LCA tool to assist in green design.
LISA is designed to:
    * Help identify key environmental issues in construction.
    * Give designers an easy to use tool for evaluating the environmental aspects of             building design.
    * Enable designers and specifiers to make informed choices based on whole of life         environmental considerations; i.e. life cycle analysis.

Low Impact Development Design Tools
This site provides watershed managers with a new set of tools and techniques that can be used to meet regulatory and receiving water protection program goals for urban retrofits, re-development projects, and new development sites.

Minnesota Sustainable Design Guide
The Minnesota Sustainable Design Guide educates and assists architects, building owners, occupants, educators, students, and the general public concerning sustainable building design. The Guide is a design tool that can be used to overlay environmental issues on the design, construction, and operation of both new and renovated facilities. It can be used to set sustainable design priorities and goals; develop appropriate sustainable design strategies; and to determine performance measures to guide the sustainable design and decision-making processes. It can also be used as a management tool to organize and structure environmental concerns during the design, construction, and operations phases.

Northwest Green Directory
The Northwest Green Directory is a new tool designed to help building industry professionals and consumers find green building products and services in Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia. Whether it’s recycled wood products or high performance architectural design you're looking for, we can help you find it.
