Daylighting in the Pacific NW: Recent projects from the UW Lighting Design Lab.   Thursday, July 9
look at all that light The Integrated Design Lab presents a discussion focused on conceptual building planning for effective daylight design, understanding the sky and landscape as a light source, and refining building elements to ensure visual comfort and maximize energy savings potential. Concepts will be illustrated through case studies of both historic and contemporary design work. 
Topics covered in this discussion include: setting daylighting performance criteria, daylight simulation with physical and digital models, interpreting simulation results, and predicting energy savings through integrated electric lighting and controls. Case studies will cover recent work in daylight simulation from the University of Washington Department of Architecture's award-winning Integrated Design Lab.

Gary Christensen Regional leader and developer Gary Christensen presents on profitability and LEED.   He will examine nine ways that green buildings add value to the project. Hear how real estate development can create tax credits and depreciation benefits and with some creative marketing and accounting structuring be bundled  and  sold  to an  investment entity, individual or corporation. You'll also here why integrated design should extend to include the owner's attorney and accountant in addition to the entire design team.
